  • Options: This gives access to video, sound, and game configurations.

GAME JOINED

After joining a game, players will be briefed on their mission: to defend the critical power pylons from The Shadow. After this brief summary, players will then be given the option to prepare their loadout for up to one hundred and eighty seconds.

LOADOUT PREPARATION

After landing at the drop site, players are given a small stipend and have up to one hundred and eighty seconds to use the armory. They can choose to pool their money together to get greater rewards later or purchase much-needed early equipment. Their equipment choices include weapons, armor, and other essential items such as medkits and traps.

WAVE ONE

The drop pod flies into the sky and immediately wave one begins. A swarm of enemies comes from all directions. At this stage the Pylon is strong and enemies can only enter from distant areas. However, each time the pylon is damaged its strength grows weaker and enemies join the fray from a closer position.

To prevent the pylon from being damaged, players should strategically position themselves around it, setting up barricades and traps to hinder enemy progress. Players will engage in both long-range and closer-quarters combat using their weapons and abilities to defeat all the enemy creatures. Communication and teamwork are critical as players must coordinate their attacks and positions, cover each other and heal when needed.

WAVE BREAK MINOR

Between most waves, players are given thirty seconds to collect resources, repair, heal, and refill their ammo. Minor wave breaks are meant to give players a chance to regroup.

WAVE TWO - THREE - FOUR

After successfully repelling the first wave, players brace themselves for a more difficult challenge. As new waves begin a new type of enemy joins the fray, requiring players to adapt their strategies. In addition to this, the initial swarms become larger requiring more coordination to overcome.

WAVE BREAK MAJOR

Every few waves, the player is given a longer respite. An armory pod flies down and the players are once again given another one-hundred and eighty seconds to purchase new equipment, new buildings, turrets, upgrades, and more.

WAVE FIVE

At wave five, the first major challenge presents itself. Mid-wave a boss will emerge. Each boss will have unique mechanics and massive swarms. Bosses will range from Tankmen who barrel towards the pylon with explosive hammers to Broodmothers who spawn thousands of enemies. This is the first opportunity for the players to fail and in many games, they will. This is also the first opportunity for players to earn major rewards. As players overcome this wave, they will go on to fight increasingly challenging waves until reaching the final wave, twenty.
